a personal family history.

When I initially started this project, I was looking very much into the realm of genealogy. That's not really the focus anymore, but nevertheless here's a great link I found to someone's personal genealogy project.

"This personal project of mine, a four month task, compiles both sides of my family—twenty generations in some cases—and nearly six-hundred years of ancestors and cousins." —Alexander Cheek

yours, mine and ours.

"Blended families can resemble the Brady bunch--or the battling Carringtons of Dynasty. Creative planners can keep money from stirring up conflict."

I've commented before about the complexites (and oddities) of defining family when it comes to the economics of everyday life. Here is a unique perspective on how some families define their own according to money as found in Financial Planning magazine this month.

our family coalition

I recently stumbled upon an amazing organization "Our Family" (www.ourfamily.org). What a phenomenal organization. I've only spoken with 2 staff members and 2 members of their community and I am impressed beyond words with their hospitality and kindness.

Take a look at their mission statement and check out their site as well: Our Family Coalition protects the civil rights and well being of families with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members through education, advocacy, social networking and grassroots community organizing.

I especially loved the shirt I saw one member wearing that said nothing on the back but "EVERY FAMILY MATTERS". I couldn't have said it better myself.
